Our Trip to Iran?
Shahrokh, Jon, Jackson, Pam, Zak and I have postponed our departure until the end of March. Zak fractured his ankle in the beginning of December. He's had his cast off for 3 weeks now and is doing great in physical therapy. The exciting news is that Nasim and Jafar will be back home in Tehran from their world-wide trip so we'll have the opportunity to spend some time with them.

Peace, the Environment, and Pancakes in Iran!
On May 10, 2008, two Iranian cyclists planted a peace tree in Spokane's Polly Judd park. Their message was a simple one, "promoting peace and environmental conservation". Jafar Edrisi and Nasim Yousefi started their journey by cycling around the world over a year ago. Since then, the Iranian couple has logged more than 10,000 km on their bikes across eleven countries and two continents and have planted 45 'peace trees' along the way.
While in Spokane, hundreds of people greeted them enthusiastically and many showed them hospitality by inviting them into their homes. Among them were two families who decided then to reciprocate Nasim and Jafar's good will by traveling to Iran and planting a peace tree in an Iranian park on behalf of the people of Spokane this coming November.
These two families which consist of three adults and two children will be hosted by Iranian families. They will also be making presentations and showing slide shows to school kids about life in Spokane and convey our own message of peace.
Please join Shahrokh, the host of The Persian Hour on Saturday, September 20th at 7:00 PM at Magic Lantern Theater for fun and to support our peace ambassadors to Iran on their journey.
Reception starts at 7 PM and will include middle-eastern food, wine, and gourmet coffee, followed by a showing of the hilarious Axis of Evil Comedy Tour.
A small silent auction featuring several 7 course gourmet Persian and rustic Italian dinners for 10, pancake breakfasts for 20, gourmet coffee for a week, massages and etc. will also be offered at this event.
Ticket prices are $20 each and can be purchased from Merlyn's which is located on 19 West Main Ave.
